Susan Clawson, Author, is the coordinator of the Parent/Teen Stories book series. Ironically Susan went to school to work with runaway teenagers but instead ended up in the sales field. However, her two older children (now 21 & 23) went through some very troublesome teen years. When Susan shared some of her experiences about them she was unfairly judged by acquaintances, other parents, the school system and the legal system. So, for the most part, she dealt with all the trials and tribulations on her own. Susan feels if this type of material/information had been available during those difficult years and was easily accessible, it may have not only provided some insight as to what her own teens were thinking/feeling, but helped her feel less isolated with the circumstances. It wasn't until Susan attended a parent seminar through a teen help program that her daughter was enrolled in, when she realized how similar stories helped gain a clearer understanding to her own issues at hand. She hopes both the writer and reader of the stories will find it easier to talk about them and also find it less threatening to reach out for some professional guidance. There are plenty of people out there that do understand.
We all are afraid of being judged and shouldn't be.After all it is our story and who really has the right to judge it or rather, judge us by our story. We all want the same, to just be understood and find a hand to guide us back to the right path.Susan hopes that these stories will help those in similar situations and let them know things can work out. Susan presently resides in Massachusetts with her husband and sixteen year old daughter. Both her older children live out of state.
