The PARENT/TEEN STORIES book series containa collaboration of short stories written by teens and parents that have experienced troublesome teen years in areas such as substance abuse, teen pregnancies, eating disorders, cutting, 'attempted' suicides, dropping out of school, being homeless and much more.
The short story writers have a passion and desire to share their personal experiences with others who are going through or have gone through similar situations. It may also be the start of a healing process for them. The writer may not of previously shared their story for the simple fear of being judged. It takes a lot of courage and inner strength to finally be able to do so. For all of you who share and are willing to open that door, you have my deepest respect and support for your willingness to take that step.
The hope is for the READER to find that one story he/she can relate to and begin feeling less alone in their struggles. Sometimes that is all it takes, someone else's story, to begin a search for a new path towards a healthier, happy life. Once the reader makes that decision to do so, then it will be easier to reach out for help. We all need to understand and be understood, especially in difficult times.
